PRESS RELEASE

Cemetery Assistance

St. Paul Church is in the process of updating a list of those known to be buried in Trundles Cemetery.  When this is completed, an attempt will be made to create a plat of grave locations – something that has never been done.  Many of the gravestones are deteriorated or were simply field stones with names scratched onto them – long since gone or unreadable.  Anyone who has knowledge of burials in the cemetery or who would like to assist us in our task is welcome to call Pete Walburg at 573-7253.

Coming Events

Potluck Luncheon at St. Paul Church

There will be a potluck lunch held at St. Paul after the Sunday morning service on the first Sunday of each month.    Please plan to come to our worship service and stay afterwards for the luncheon.  If you can, please bring a covered dish for all to enjoy.  Call Treva Brodersen for more information (850-5999.)

OUTREACH

Christian Children’s Fund

The Church Council has voted to support a disadvantaged child in another country through the Christian Children’s Fund.  We have selected Cleiton, a young Brazilian boy who lives with his grandmother and mother in a rural community located in the southwestern part of the state of Ceara. We encourage members of the congregation to individually select and support a similar child as well.  The cost is nominal and the web address is www.christianchildrensfund.org.

Angel Food Ministries

Council has begun the process of studying the methods of delivery of the foods to the Church.  With the assistance of the River of Life Outreach Church in Seymour we hope to be fully functional by the first of the year, first as an Associate then as a full member.  Any one interested in participating, either as a volunteer or as a recipient is asked to call Pete Walburg at 573-7253.

C.R.O.S.S.

Christians Reaching Out Serving Seymour is a church supported, social welfare agency which provides needy persons with food and assistance with utilities and rent payments and other emergency assistance.  It is supported by 16 local churches, among which is St. Paul Church. We will continue to contribute food items that they require.  We will post here, and on the front page, a list of needed food items.  You can bring them to the church and we will take them over to C.R.O.S.S. periodically.

NEEDED FOOD ITEMS:

Rice

Baking Mixes

Canned Meat

Toilet Paper

Powdered Milk

Keeping Boyd’s Creek Highway Beautiful.

As our part in the Seymour beautification program, St. Paul Church will maintain a 4 times/year trash pick-up from Chapman Highway past the church to N. Shiloh Road.  TDOT has erected signs identifying St. Paul as responsible for that stretch of Boyd’s Creek Hwy.

CHURCH BUILDING

Construction

With great celebration, the nave drop ceiling, installed by the Church of Christ, has been removed and new lighting installed.  Many donations from the congregation in addition to money from the General Fund were used.  In addition, the Nave and Annex attics have been insulated and major reconstruction of the belfry roof and supporting structures were accomplished to prevent leakage. (see Picture Gallery)

New Sign

The roadside sign donated by the Diocese has been posted in place of the old St. Paul sign.  With both this sign and the changeable letter sign, our Church is well identified

Repainted Communion Rail

Volunteers from the congregation have repainted the communion rail black, which fits in better with the overall décor.

Security System

As a result of the break-in and loss of items of value, we have installed a new alarm system and night lights in the back of the annex.  Anyone requiring access to the building should call Pete Walburg at 573-7253 or David Thomas at 654-5489.

Outside Plantings and Decorations

Plantings around the signs, the Nave A/C unit and the back door ramp have been completed thanks to the efforts of the Tousinaus and Dianne Stamm.  We have also begun the installation of planting boxes in front of the church.
