Boyd’s Creek Community Outreach Committee

The Clergy and Congregation of St. Paul are happy to announce our joining with Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church and Boyd’s Creek Baptist Church in the Community Outreach Committee.  The group has sponsored a successful program to provide school supplies to the needy in our local schools, and a successful Thanksgiving food drive to provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need in the Boyd’s Creek community.  Please keep these efforts in your prayers as we seek to band together with our neighbors to serve the needs of our community.

St. Paul Petitions Diocese for Parish Status

The Church Council of St. Paul Episcopal Church passed a unanimous motion in our June, 2011 meeting to petition the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee to grant us status as a Parish Church.  After gathering the necessary signatures of 50 Confirmed Communicants we are waiting for this to be passed at the 2012 Diocesan Convention.

Potluck Luncheon at St. Paul Church

There is a covered dish luncheon after the Sunday morning service on the first Sunday of each month.    Please plan to come to our worship service and stay afterwards for the luncheon.  If you can, please bring a covered dish for all to enjoy.  Call Treva Brodersen for more information (850-5999.)

The Lunch Bunch

The "Lunch Bunch" is a group of ladies who gather on the third Friday of the month for lunch and fellowship.  The venue changes monthly as different members of the group sign-up to act as "hostess" and plan the meetings.  The Lunch Bunch usually meets at a local restaurant, but sometimes gather in someone's home or meet for a "brown bag" lunch at the church.  Information about the monthly gatherings is announced in the Sunday bulletins and in our newsletter.  There is a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board for anyone wanting to host a Lunch Bunch meeting.

Evening Ladies Group and the Mens Group

The success of “The Lunch Bunch” has not gone unnoticed.  Not to be undone, the men have decided to also get together for fellowship. The inaugural gathering, a cookout, was last fall.  The men’s group announces events as they are planned.

There were many ladies in the church who work or are unable to attend the noon “Lunch Bunch” fellowship.  They have decided to form a night group which meets as announced.  Be sure to check out the weekly edition of “ST. PAUL’S EPISTLE” in your Sunday bulletin for announcements concerning upcoming dates.

Brownies

Please note: Anyone planning a meeting or event on Tuesday nights needs to be aware of the Brownie troop that meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month.

Episcopal Relief And Development

We are now in the process of raising money to buy a goat! In the past we have purchased pigs and mosquito netting for use in third-world countries, gave over $600 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts,  and now we are saving up for a goat. A goat provides a family with the opportunity to create a regular income.  Goats are hardy, reproduce quickly, and can be raised in a variety of climates to produce staple items such as milk, cheese, and manure for farming.  Stop by the church office to pick up an ER-D brochure about their programs to assist the needy not only in the USA, but all over the world. You can also go to www.er-d.org for more information.

Christian Children’s Fund

The Church Council has voted to support a disadvantaged child in another country through the Christian Children’s Fund.  We have selected Cleiton, a young Brazilian boy who lives with his grandmother and mother in a rural community located in the southwestern part of the state of Ceara. We encourage members of the congregation to individually select and support a similar child as well.  The cost is nominal and the web address is www.christianchildrensfund.org.
